Don't ever say that at AK. They think he's a god over there. He's got a long professional design career but most of it's not my cup of coffee. He's in the all amps/wire/etc sound the same camp. To me, it's just his stuff that all sounds the same.

you shouldn't dare me.

i see a lot of designers get into a loop. after their first original brilliant design. everything after that is usually a slight variation of the same theme.

Ever see the spoof Brady Bunch movie? Mike kept coming up with "new" designs that were all based on the design of his house!

Guess I've got a bit of it too then as I agree with him. I can 'iron' one out pretty good, but even then would never call its performance as HIFI. 'Toe tappin', 'party til you puke' entertainment, yes, but HIFI? No way.

maybe, but the last few shows..concerts , I went to see had almost no mids. a bunch of subs running well into the 3rd octive, and a bunch of tops straining down into the crossover range. sounded horrible. in controled enviroments and critical listening sessions, I would rather turn up the big rig and wander around the property, I live on 5 acres, where it sounds live, full, and effortlessly strong at just a few watts, a thousand feet away. try that with the bookshelf variety of 'hifi' speakers. im thinking they would sound week, tinny, and overworked into distortion at anywhere over 50 ft for sure. just my 2cents, whatever that's worth these days

i'll second this. most every live show nowadays use those god awful line arrays with subs. all at once blaring and ponderous.
